Digital Measuring: Bosch Professional Detection

The ability to detect various materials through walls, to detect and measure surface temperature and even measure ambient conditions from a distance used to be an ability reserved for the qualified engineer equipped with wallet breaking tools to his tool belt. The Bosch Digital Measuring department is working out more ways to bring this detecting ability to the average enthusiast and professional tradesman.

Wall Detectors

Ever wanted to drill into a wall but you were completely unsure as to what was behind that wall. Imagine the upset when you confidently drill a hole into the wall and in your moment of glory, you realise that not only did you accomplish your goal of drill through the wall but you have also managed to drill through a copper pipe – causing a leak. Not a great day, right?

Bosch GMS 120 Professional

The Bosch GMS 120 Professional is the entry level professional wall detector in the GMS range. This simple, easy-to-use and intuitive wall detector allows the user to detect ferrous materials (like steel) up to 120mm deep.

Maximum depth for non-ferrous metals (like copper) detection is specified at 80mm, for live cables at 50mm and wooden structures at 38mm.  The Bosch GMS 120 Professional has automatic calibration to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Specifically designed for drilling purposes, the Bosch GMS 120 Professional detector is also equipped with a centre marking hole in order to assist you in marking where you wish to drill.

Bosch D-tect 150 SV Wallscanner Professional

The Bosch D-Tect 150 Professional Wallscanner is the upgraded model from the Bosch GMS 120.

With this improved wall scanner, the Bosch D-Tect 150 has increased depth detection. Ferrous metals can now be detected up to 150mm and so is the same with non-ferrous metals as well. For live cables, the maximum depth detection is set at 60mm and maximum wood detection depth is at 40mm.

Both these detectors are accurate to approximately 5mm.

The Bosch D-tect 150 Wallscanner also has added detection modes for damp concrete (60mm), concrete special (150mm), dry wall construction (80mm).

Thermo Detectors

Detecting and recording surface temperature can help a roof builder, plumber or air conditioning technician to detect an air leak as well as help to detect where there may be any water accumulation (especially when determining water damage).

Bosch GIS 1000 C Professional Thermo Detector

The Bosch GIS 1000 C Professional can measure temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +1000 °C. The accuracy tolerance on this is approximately 1.0 °C.

The working range of the Bosch GIS 1000 C is from 100mm to 5m with shock protection at up to 1m above ground.

The 2.8” TFT LCD displays allows you to use the integrated camera to take thermal images and store them on the internal memory of the detector (up to +/- 200 images).

Bluetooth integration and the use of the Bosch Measuring Master App allow you to be able to transfer the data captured on to your Android and iOS devices.

Bosch GTC 400 C Professional Thermo Camera

The Bosch GTC 400 C Professional Thermo Camera differs from the GIS 1000 C Thermo Detector in that it provides the user with immediate visualisations of the temperature differences in real-time without needing to capture a static image first.

A bit limited compared to its more affordable counterpart, the measuring temperature range for the Bosch GTC 400 C is -10 °C to +400 °C. The accuracy tolerance on this device is approximately 3.0 °C.

Unlike the rudimentary TFT LCD display on the Bosch GIS 1000 C, the Bosch GTS 400 C presents the user with a 3.5” TFT LCD display with a higher resolution and much more measuring points. This thermo camera also has the ability to capture and store more of these images onto the internal memory (up to 500 images).

Bluetooth integration and the use of the Bosch Measuring Master App allow you to be able to transfer the data captured on to your Android and iOS devices.
